Video systems
Taking over a custom video recording system, stabilising it and integrating cameras through ONVIF and manufacturer APIs.
CREAWEB / EXPERIENCE
Years of commercial work on varied applications and systems: building from scratch, taking over live products, stabilising them and extending them. iFotos is one example.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF WORK
The work includes new systems and existing products taken over for stabilisation and further development.
Taking over a custom video recording system, stabilising it and integrating cameras through ONVIF and manufacturer APIs.
Technical leadership of an intermediate layer that brought data from multiple sources together for a web application.
Independently developing an inherited system and putting testing and a development environment in place. In another project, stabilising a candidate assessment system and extending algorithms that adapted question difficulty to answers.
OWN PROJECT
A service for storing and sharing images online. The work covered the application, file delivery and server operations.
iFotos ran for many years as an image hosting service. Its development covered user-facing features and the technical foundation: file storage, metadata, view counters and image delivery at high traffic.
At peak hours, the four servers’ network links reached their throughput limits while average CPU usage stayed around 40%. Separating application logic from file delivery made better use of the available infrastructure.
PHP handled metadata and cached view counters. After checking a request, it handed the file to Nginx through X-Accel-Redirect; Nginx delivered the image without tying up a PHP process for the transfer. MySQL stored service data.
iFotos was an in-house project. The figures describe peak hours and are approximate.
